It certainly is a conversation with a lot of people in the kayaking and fishing industry I am sure. I have spent a lot of time this season thinking about kayak fishing and where its going. People that I have spoken with all agree that Freshwater Kayak Fishing is about to explode.
I particularly think that it will continue to develope in: - Bass Kayak Fishing and bass fishing tournaments
- Offshore kayak fishing, and the ability to store larger fish
Bass Kayak FishingOver the next couple of years we will start to see boat designs that will have bigger live wells and with added room so that fish can be kept alive for the live weigh ins. I am no bass fisherman or very involved with bass fishing, YET, but we all know how huge bass fishing is, so it reasonable to thing that these 2 passions will merge and explode.
Offshore Kayak FishingWhat I don’t mean is offshore “Mother Ship Trips”. I have been a sea kayaker for over 20 years. I have seen kayaks come along away. As the kayak fisherman matures's they will seek out larger fish and the ability to paddle, sail, or even pedal to increase there range. They will need a boat that can stay out longer a boat that is comfortable for longer trips and most important a boat to get the catch home. Ok I said it “Pedal”, but that is a conversation for another day.
We can all say one thing about kayak fishing; it’s a really fun sport and exciting to watch new products come out. Remember the first kayak fishing rod from Okuma, now how many other kayak fishing rods are there?
What do you think?
